When you walk into my office, you will be greeted with a smile and positive regard. Starting a counseling relationship can be stressful, and I will do my best to reduce that stress.
You may be thinking HOW? I try to see your difficulties from your point of view; initially I need to get to know you, how you think, and how the situation was developed.

I smile and laugh a lot–that’s just who I am. I believe much of the stress we have in life is caused by taking ourselves TOO SERIOUSLY. Levity is a good antidote for awkwardness and uneasy feelings.
The more people I help, the more I realize we are more similar that we are different. I will normalize your issues to help you develop a plan to correct them for good. From the very first session, you will feel a weight is lifted because you will no longer be trudging through your life and problems all alone–you will have a competent supporter to help.
Where we Start
The first part of the therapy process is evaluation. I will be gathering meaningful information, including your background and issue that caused you to seek treatment in the first place.
You will complete a GOAL Sheet that includes the areas you would like to work on and how you will know these problems have been resolved. I have all my clients answer the MIRACLE QUESTION which is effective in helping you envision your life after the problem is solved.
Sitting down with me will feel like catching up with a trusted friend. Although the work will be challenging and direct, I do my best to roll with you to bring the best outcome possible. I use surveys, written assignments, books, videos, and assessments to help you understand your issues and develop a plan to resolve them.
You will be doing the lion share of the work; there is no secret pill. My job is to help you make incremental changes in your thought process, emotions, and behavior. You may be amazed how much change can happen with very small adjustments in behavior or thought.

Like your first day at a new job, starting a therapeutic relationship can cause a great deal of anxiety and fear. I have a conversational approach that will help you to relax. Before long you will feel like we are old friends.
Don’t take this to mean that the process will be a walk in the park. I use a practical approach that focuses on getting you results from day one. If you have been struggling with the lack of clarity, frustration, lack of enjoyment, or lack of focus, I can help you to start developing a course for your life.
Please don’t be surprised as I use music and videos to help you connect with your own story–your personal experience. I have found that stifled meaningful emotions cause some to be stuck. Once these emotions are accepted and expressed, you will feel like you can move on in your life.
I completed a master’s degree at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. I have extensive experience in addictions, including work at a residential adolescent facility and at adult dual-diagnosis facilities. I specialized in helping couples in distress in a church-based counseling program, and I have enjoyed group facilitation.
I am a certified Prepare-Enrich Facilitator and use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy as my primary orientations.
During my free time, I love reading, cooking, and spending time with my family.
